The Mission of Elkhart County Highway is to provide the most efficient road and bridge
network possible with the resources provided. This is made possible by the financial
support of taxpayers, the budgetary provisions from the County Council and
Commissioners, and the service from our dedicated employees. The success of the road
and bridge transportation network is a result of the dedicated community. Any issue that
pertains to the duties of the county highway department should be reported and will be

All work planned within street right-of-way requires a permit in the form of a "Road
Impact Agreement" to be developed and established by the Elkhart County Highway
Division.

Upon receipt of a completed permit application and required fee, Elkhart County Highway
review comments will typically be complete within two weeks (three weeks maximum).
